Dress-Up Or Custom?

Do you need a counter display?  Floor display?  Inline?  Endcap?  Gondola?  Glorifier?  Custom display?  Stock unit?  And the list goes on.  With the vast array of products and industries represented at retail, they types of displays that could be used are seemingly endless.


Pinpointing the best solution for your brand requires an in-depth conversation, but we can explore a sample pair of alternatives:  Given a certain amount of space at retail, should your display simply dress up the existing store fixturing, or should it replace said fixturing with a completely custom set?


The following are some typical questions we use to foster alignment as part of a discovery conversation:


  • How much adjustability do you need?  Does your product vary considerably in size?  Do you anticipate having to change planograms, or perform updates that would involve the display’s structure?  If so, a custom display may have the edge over a simple dress-up package.

  • How well does your brand aesthetic mesh with the store’s?  Unless your anticipated retail channels exclusively sell merchandise that targets your key demographic, chances are high the look of the retailer’s décor won’t be optimized to support your brand.  Custom structure & materials would be worth considering in this case.

  • What are your budgetary pressure points?  As cost-effective as our custom display program is, simply dressing up the store fixturing is tough to beat from a pricing perspective.  Alternatively, a hybrid custom / dress-up approach might be the way to go.
